Maple Cookies with Maple Icing

Ingredients:

Cookies:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Maple Icing:

2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
2-4 tablespoons milk or cream (add gradually to reach desired consistency)
Instructions:

Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Maple Syrup, Egg, and Vanilla:
Beat in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.

Mix Dry Ingredients with Wet Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Drop Dough onto Baking Sheets:
Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.

Bake:
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.

Cool:
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Icing:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and maple syrup. Gradually add milk or cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the icing reaches your desired consistency (smooth and pourable).

Ice the Cookies:
Once the cookies are completely cool, drizzle or spread the maple icing over them. Allow the icing to set before serving.
